CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF:

JUDGE, 12TH CIRCUIT COURT, 4TH SUBCIRCUIT, ADDITIONAL JUDGESHIP A

NOVEMBER 2, 2010 ELECTION:

2010 ILLINOIS GENERAL ELECTION

CANDIDATE STATEMENT

The voters of Dupage and Lockport Townships of Will County should vote for Wayne M. Kwiat, Sr. because he has the character, the training and the experience of a proven leader to make fair and just decisions as a Circuit Court Judge. He will follow those through on his judgments with proper and expeditious punishment for criminals. He will render civil cases decisions with the old neutrality of an impartial judge.

Appointed in 1987, I have been a special prosecutor for the Will County State’s Attorney in the branch courts of Bolingbrook, Peotone, and Lockport. Through four (4) State Attorneys’ administrations, I prosecuted an average of 12,000 traffic-related cases, annually, for Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Lockport, and Crest Hill, as well as, Peotone, Monee, Beecher, Crete and University Park.

As a private attorney for over 36 years, I have been a solo-practitioner with emphasis in the areas of real estate, wills, trusts, divorce, adoption and general litigation. During the last several years, I have been one of the two hearing officers for the Village of Bolingbrook.

For the Circuit Court Judge, I believe that voters want experienced individuals who can render fair decisions. I have the temperament for the rigors of the bench. I have heard thousands of stories about the peoples lives that have come before me in the prosecutor's role. Most people are good, and want to do good. Often times, they have made poor mistakes. They just want to be treated fairly and given a chance to come within the law. When people are outside the boundaries of the law and found guilty of heinous crimes, then the Judge should render a decision based on the law and punish accordingly.

My leadership roles as President of the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce, President of Claridge Estates Homeowners Association, President of the Rotary Club, Dupage Township Highway Commissioner, and as Trustee for the Village of Bolingbrook have taught me to think, act and follow the best course of action. We can all do better in life. The lessons of each decision making process make the actions of our lives better for everyone.

My goal is to be fair, impartial and set the standard for the future jurists. My father was a Judge in the 60's and he is my inspiration for Law School and beyond. His leadership in Scouting for over 20 years, and the manner he raised me, my brothers and sister gives me the best gauge as to leading my life.
