CANDIDATE:
DESIREE
GRODE
CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF:
COOK COUNTY COMMISSIONER, DISTRICT 2
NOVEMBER 2, 2010 ELECTION:
2010 ILLINOIS GENERAL ELECTION
CANDIDATE STATEMENT
I want to reform our government.
I don’t think it’s right that you have to pay the highest sales tax in the country, 10.25%, to enrich our mismanaged government and its leaders.
I am running for Cook County Board Commissioner (2nd) to bring good government back to Chicago and Cook County and to reduce the sales tax. Your politicians should work for you, and I intend to do so.
As Commissioner, I will:
1) Lower the sales tax a full one percent. The sales tax is regressive and hurts
everyone, and much of your money goes to sleeping workers:

2) Merge county offices. Many jobs exist only so politicians can hire friends and
family. I believe government should work for all of its citizens, not the
privileged few.
3) Post all county revenues, expenditures, bids and job openings online to
create transparency and accountability in Cook County government. It’s your
government. You deserve to know what it’s doing.
