BIOGRAPHICAL INFO
Baxter was born and raised in Maywood, Illinois, Baxter is one of seventeen children.
Baxter attended high school at Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park and went on to graduate from Truman State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Political Science.
Baxter launched the 1000 Healthy Kids Campaign which registered over 1,200 young people for All Kids, Illinois’s public health insurance, in just one day. Since 2008, the program has expanded and is now know as the 10,000 Healthy Kids Campaign.
Baxter has worked extensively with the Chicago Metropolitan YMCA to improve and expand the services they provide to working families across Cook County.
Baxter has worked with the West Side Pastor’s Coalition for Aids and Inner City Health to forge a partnership with Resurrection Health Care. The West Side Pastor’s Coalition has now received grants and office space allowing them to increase services.
Baxter has served on the Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League, where he has developed community outreach strategies and assisted the group in raising funds to put their mission into action.
Baxter currently resides in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. He’s an active member of his community and he serves on the Rogers Park Community Council Board of Directors.
